Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures

Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is an award-winning ecotourism accredited attraction that has been carefully created on a 10 hectare World Heritage location. After many years of habitat restoration it is now a true sanctuary, with over 2100m of boardwalks and pathways that allow you to discover the five distinct zones of this innovative wildlife park.

A multi-faceted eco-adventure facility, most areas of Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures can be explored independently, while others require special transport and/or staff supervision for safety reasons.

    
Hartley's Lagoon - Our No. 1 croc spotting spot! Tour the wetlands on a boat cruise and watch crocodiles, birds and the wildlife of the coastal melaleuca habitat.

Cassowary Walk - Introduce yourself to our beautiful flightless emblems, the Cassowaries, and discover why they are so important to our rainforests.

Wildlife Discovery Trail - Meet freshwater crocs, turtles and lizards and go through our tropical walk-through bird aviary. Visit the Macalister Education Centre for an insight into the local environment.

Crocodile Farm - We operate a commercial crocodile farm here at Hartley's. Take a farm tour to learn how it works and to gain an insight into how crocodile farming contributes to conservation.

Gondwana Gateway - Our newest attraction is best described as the 'bridge between two worlds'. The displays and interpretative signage explain how isolation and adaption shaped our unique fauna.

Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures was created as a showcase for ecotourism and environmental sustainability. Every aspect of its design, construction and operations is centered on the philosophy of sustainable use and positive environmental impacts.

The award winning buildings on the site were designed to blend seamlessly into the landscape. Water use is minimised by extensive recycling and rainwater capture facilities, while energy consumption is also reduced through innovative use of design and materials as well as low energy lighting.

The wildlife is displayed in enclosures and landscapes that have been carefully designed so that the visitors have the perception of them being ‘in the wild’ but with the safety of the most modern enclosure structures.
